Magic Cottage with Sheena Douglass

Hello out there!

Are you ready to feel the magic? Are you ready to believe? I certainly do!!

I had so much fun working on this collection! This one was especially up my street as it's a little bit different!

For one of my creations, I teamed the new stamps with many of the previous releases. I like to do this. Have you noticed? It's a great thing to do, as the collections don't just work in isolation, (even though we may have to at the moment) so have a play and mix them up! 😊

In this diorama, the cottage, raven, fence and sentiment are the new set, whilst the blossom is from the Define the Line, as is the tree, the sun dial and foxglove are from Secret Garden and the wisteria is from Shed loads, but see how well they work together to really set the scene.  With this collection, you can go very dark and spooky, yet there is also the option to go pretty and inviting.

Something magical is brewing and we are getting a glimpse into the future! This was a salt background made with the pigment inks watered down. I was really super happy with the way this turned out! 😃 You never know what it's going to be like but that is part of the beauty. I think this is my favourite salt background ever! I then added the dies on top and decoupaged them.

As the night has drawn in the candles have been lit and the prince is hoping to be turned back into his human form. If only he could find his true love! Loved painting this frog and I wanted him realistic. I also painted the candelabra as if it had an onyx stem, similar to a candlestick I own myself, as I thought it would complement his Highness.

Now in a dark, quiet, corner of the cottage this little plant is making it's presence felt! As soon as I saw this Venus flytrap the idea for this card popped into my head! Scary isn't it! 😂 It's element power is coming through! Feed me!! I used the window ledge from a previous collection to make the table.

She is ready to tell your fortune... I had the Great and Powerful Oz in mind when creating this one...

Hope you are feeling the magic now!

Nature's Sketchbook with Sheena Douglass

Hello crafty peeps,

As you will know Sheena does love her flora and fauna, so do I, so these stamps were a joy to work with, lots of beautiful flowers, with a few little critters too.

I thought this sentiment would work well with the water lily image, especially if the flower was the main focus in a twinkling pool. It would represent hope for someone who might be going through a tough time.

I do love bees and here are some busy ones. I decoupaged them on the scene, along with some of the blossom.

Decided to paint these are if they were Himalayan poppies, decoupaged again.

This scene was created by stamping the bird house flat to the background and then layering the flowers over the top to add depth.

Hope you enjoyed these pretty blooms.

Back soon...

Wildlife Sketchbook with Sheena Douglass

Hello crafters,

In January Sheena brought animals to us with her Wildlife Sketchbook. This is a fabulous set of stamps with some of our favourite creatures.

I love this tiger and decided to paint him as if he was just emerging from the jungle. Gesso was mixed with the green pigment ink, so I could paint over the tiger and background with the leaves. A black pen was used to draw the details in for the leaves.  I then created a background to complement him.

I also love owls, and this one has got his beady eye on you!

A lovely hedgehog all snuggled up...

The Lama's are loving life! No drama here!  It's had a bit of a hair do. 😊

I loved spending time with these animals.... who wouldn't?

Secret Garden with Sheena Douglass

Greetings crafters!

So, here I am again, binge blogging! Bringing to you all that I have been up to! I'm still working my way through last year... so bare with..

Another release from Sheena was Secret Garden, this was again, a collection of gorgeous stamps and dies. I used several of them together to create this scene. I really wanted it to have a magical quality and really invite you to enter in and find more wonders. This was a decoupaged scene.

Peaking through into another world...

Marvellous Magnolia.... die cut, stamped and painted..

And fabulous fuschias... also die cut, stamped and painted. I covered one stem with an extra bloom to make them look different.

Have you enjoyed your time in the garden?

Shed Loads with Sheena Douglasss

Hello again,

Shed loads was a fab collection of dies and stamps launched by Sheena last year. They are suitable for the gardener, artist or mad crafter that you know. There is a window die and various companion dies to the stamps.

There is a wooden panel stamp, so this created the backdrop/wall for this scene and then decoupaged on top of this.

This lady is obsessed with craft! I've also teamed the new stamps with some from the previous launch, Through Any Window.

This artist has some outdoor inspiration....

Hope you have enjoyed peeking into this shed... back soon...

Love and hugs

Through Any Window with Sheena Douglass

Hello fellow crafters!

Sheena launched a collection of stamps and dies called Through Any Window. A wonderful set to play with, where you can create some fabulous scenes. There are curtain dies along with many others to decorate the sills. There are matching stamps which fit exactly. This cat is just chilling..

For this one I created a longer card 8"x10," so I could make a country cottage scene. The wooden panelling was created by stamping strips of card with the window ledge.

Another larger card with Willow having a noisy out of the window. I made daydo rail and skirting board with strips of card again.

We can't forget the children's bedrooms. This little boy is football crazy, so much so, his walls are even his teams colours!

A little girl's bedroom...

And the nursery of a new little one...

And thinking outside of the box, literally, lol!  I made this toy box, so I could put all the toys together and show something very different can be made with this collection. And of course the cat had to get in on the action!

Hope you have enjoyed this view through the windows...

Enchanted Meadow with Sheena Douglass

Hello crafty peeps,

And now for something a little bit magical! Last year Sheena released four A4 stamp sheets, entitled Enchanted Meadow. This was a beautiful collection that was great fun to play with. It made us think of summer days, nature and magical summer evenings.

I love this Romany caravan. I was lucky enough to see one, I think it was over a year ago now, going past me on the road. I actually found it a moving experience as you don't normally see them and it looked so beautiful. For this card I wanted to set it in a scene, so I teamed it with some of the previous stamps. It just happens to have stopped for awhile and parked up in the countryside, under the shade of a great tree.

Also, If you are very lucky, you might just part the veil between the worlds and get a glimpse of fairyland. Here, the sun is rising, ready for a new day...

When the evening has drawn in, it's time to light the lanterns..

I love to see lights and candles lit on a summer evening... I used the moths from the previous image.

The little hedgehog out and about, having a bimble in search of food... teamed with the Lily of the Valley stamp from the Beautiful Year set.

Playful kitty....

And a pretty quicker card make...

Hope you have enjoyed this magical trip to the meadow... what could be up next???

Quick Christmas with Sheena Douglass

Hello again,

I'm trying to catch up with everything you've missed, so posting lots of things at once. So, also last year, Sheena released Quick Christmas. This was a collection of stamps that could make those quick cards, if you have a lot to make, but could also be trimmed up if you want to make a fancy card.

I love this beautiful deer, complete with its own decorations and feeling festive. I also used some of the swirls, from the previous Christmas stamps, for the background. I thought they would frame the main image nicely. The Ivy is the stamps and die from the Define the Line collection.

Then there was this fab car, laden down with gifts. I teamed it, again, with the previous Christmas stamps by using the cottages and setting a scene. The background was kept pale to draw attention to the car.

Well, I don't know what you mean!! 😂

You totally know that those pets are planning their revenge for later, especially the cat! 😉😂

It's not Christmas without a pretty snowflake, stamped and embossed.

You can't say you weren't warned...

And finally, a festive wreath...

I love some festive crafting. 😊 Coming up next... something enchanting... stay tuned...

A Beautiful Year with Sheena Douglass

Hello crafters!

I know, it's been a while hasn't it! I hope you are all safe and well out there. These are strange times we are living through aren't they? None of us, as we saw the near year in, could ever have believed  we would see the world as it is now. I'm sending lots of crafty love to you all, and I hope that you and your family and friends are safe and well. On a positive note, during this difficult and scary time, I do think that as crafters, we are lucky in some aspects, as we have always been able to amuse ourselves by making things. We have the ability to continue to create beautiful things to brighten the lives of others and our own.

Back in September last year, (yes, I know, it's been that long!) Sheena released her Beautiful Year stamp collection. This was four  A4 sheets of stamps, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The team had great fun playing with this collection. So these are my makes to share with you.

So, we will start with Spring... For this one I wanted to portray her as Gaia, with everything that awakens in spring, coming forth from her. There was a lot of masking involved in creating this but I was really happy with how it turn out, even though it took a long time.

Lilly of the Valley, love this little flower and the beautiful swifts. The aim was to make this look Victorian, like the old postcards.

Summer days on the beach with friends, what's not to love? The shells were stamped and embossed and then fussy cut.

And that summer music festival everyone has been waiting for.. I stamped the butterfly separately, then the lady and decoupaged them to create this winged music fan.

Autumn, when the leaves begin to fall and the world becomes golden...

This was a plain pumpkin stamp but I decided to make it into a Halloween pumpkin by adding the face, and then drawing and painting the wall for it to sit on.

Brrr... winter... but it brings its own beauty doesn't it...

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these makes... back very soon with more updates. So much to catch up on....
